Advancing the field of corrections through practice and policy is a priority for CLA. One of the ways we do this is by serving as a liaison to our directors, their elected officials and the White House. This year, CLA’s priorities include addressing the problem of drones and contraband cell phones, reentry planning, including the Second Chance Reauthorization Act and a number of other national issues. We will participate in training sessions and include blocks of time for corrections leaders and their staff to meet with their respective congressional delegations. We will also host a congressional awards ceremony and reception. Our goals for this event are to share CLA’s priorities with elected officials and key stakeholders and raise CLA's profile -- and the corrections profession generally -- while doing so. We believe we have a unique opportunity to advance correctional priorities given the new administration's focus on public safety. 

 Meeting With Your Congressional Delegation 

The primary objective of this event is to facilitate your engagement with your congressional delegations on Capitol Hill. To streamline this process, we collaborate with the Parzival Group, leveraging their extensive network and strong connections with numerous Hill offices. They play a pivotal role in organizing and scheduling these meetings for our participants. As part of the registration process, you have the opportunity to indicate your preferred meetings, provide us with your availability, and include details of your legislative liaison, should you have one. Alternatively, if you choose not to utilize the services of the Parzival Group for scheduling your meetings, it is required that you arrange your own Hill meetings independently.

 Travel

You will want to fly into Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). June 23rd and 26th are travel days. The event kicks off with a welcome reception on Monday, June 23rd at 5:00 pm EDT and will wrap up on Wednesday, June 26th at 6:00 pm.

 Registration

Please use the link below to register for the 2025 CLA on the Hill event. *If someone else will be registering for you, they will need your username and password. Please complete your registration by May 9th to allow ample time for scheduling your Hill meetings. If you register after this date, you will be responsible for arranging your own congressional meetings.
